Ananda Cavalli Originally from California, Ananda Cavalli received her B.A. in Art and Contemporary Literature from the University of California Santa Cruz and her MFA from Parsons the New School of Design. Her photographs and sculptures negotiate the individual’s struggle with unknown and uncontrollable aspects of life, such as healing, trauma and transformation. The unknown in the photographs is often alluded to by a surrounding darkness or sparse space encompassing the subject. At times the subjects appear to be inwardly calm, and at others as disquieted and frustrated, as they cope privately with their own physicality.
